Founded in 1982, ABI plays a leading role in providing congressional leaders and the general public with non-partisan reporting and analysis of bankruptcy regulations, laws and trends. ABI is often called on to testify before Congress, analyze proposed bills, and conduct periodic briefings for congressional committees and legislative staff. ABI is engaged in numerous educational and research activities, as well as the production of a number of publications both for the insolvency practitioner and for the dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency.

Summary

/ Objective

The Meeting Planner is part of the professional events team to plan and execute successful meetings and events. The association is committed to providing excellent customer service and creating quality experiences for its members.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and facilitate all aspects of meeting planning from site selection, vendor negotiation, event registration, marketing, a/v coordination, onsite staffing, and post‑event reporting and financial reporting (including coding of hotel bills and other invoices)
  • Assist with production of budgets and financial reports
  • Responsible for site selection, BEO’s, optional events
  • Work on multiple meetings, large‑scale conferences, and events simultaneously
  • Work with volunteer Program Advisory Boards to coordinate session development and speaker invitations and reminders
  • Coordinate speaker registration and update speaker tracking data
  • Provide and update information for event website in timely manner
  • Work with volunteer advisory board social and sponsorship committees to coordinate social events and secure financial
  • Coordinate event sponsorship outreach/tracking/invoicing
  • Manage educational materials development and production, etc.
  • Create event master To‑do list and ensure deadlines are met
  • Create and send event marketing communications via email, web, print
  • Send and track correspondence with speakers and sponsors/exhibitors
  • Work directly with registrants on problems and inquiries
  • Develop and maintain solid relationships with exhibitors/sponsors
  • Work with the communications team to create/design event materials and signage
  • Oversee meeting preparation, supplies ordering and packing/shipping of event materials
  • Data entry and daily administrative functions
  • Create and analyze online evaluations and prepare post‑event reports
  • Ensure all CLE/CPE requirements are met; work with Meetings Coordinator to provide bios, materials, descriptions and post‑conference attendance reports to CLE/CPE coordinator (Currently ABA)
  • Coordinate and conduct online webinars when needed

    Travel

    Travel approximately 30% of time. Mostly US based but some international travel can be required.

    Required

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree required.

    3-5 years professional meeting planning experience (non‑profit or association experience preferred).

    Preferred

    Education and Experience

    Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred, but not required.

    Work Environment

    This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies.
