Part-Time On-Site Construction Safety Leader

• Be familiar with Owners Safety SOP and Plan, including site evacuation plan
• Be familiar with the Contractor’s Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP)
• Review of Contractors’ Safety Documents (and request revisions when applicable), including:

Environment Health and Safety Plans (EHASP)

• Ability/confidence to recommend Site Engineering staff implement Stop Work Authority when existing safety concerns are deemed immediately dangerous to life and health
• Identification and evaluation of anticipated safety hazards
• Generate and provide EHASPs to Engineering staff
• Coordinate safety activities with Owner staff
• Daily monitoring, weekly meeting, and monthly reporting
• Notify Engineer of incidents and near misses
• Walk site with Contractor’s safety representative occasionally
• Review/Comment/Approve Contractors Monthly Health and Safety Report, which includes:

Monthly Health and Safety Plan

Injury and accident reports

Monthly Implementation of Health and Safety Programs

Monthly Site Housekeeping Program

Temporary Environmental Controls

• Observe Contractor’s excavation, trenching and shoring activities for safety monitoring
• Observe Contractor personnel for proper PPE
• Observe Contractor’s fall protection plan in practice
• Drop ins on Contractor Site Safety Meetings
• Observe/verify LOTO procedures are performed/followed by Contractor
• Assist with verification and compliance with Envision Documentation Section QL 1.3 Improve Construction Safety
• Observe temporary traffic controls and pedestrian traffic controls
• Observe Contractor’s temporary facilities (i.e. trailers and loading areas) for compliance with safety standards, including postings and benefit of occupancy inspection certificate
• Monitor presence of MSDS at site for conformance with specifications and regulations
• Monitor heavy equipment operation for safety, including spotter usage
• Observe Contractor’s Safety practices to ensure adequate protection is provided for persons and property
