SAFETY MANAGER-NORTHERN VIRGINIA
General Summary of the Position: Working under the guidance of our Director of Risk, Safety, & Health, the Safety Manager will conduct on‑site field safety inspections, project safety audits, safety talks, and train project employees in various safety and OSHA related topics across the infrastructure services division. The Safety Manager will assist in identifying and developing safety policies and procedures that help prevent harm to workers and property and create policies for workers to follow that minimize job‑related hazards.
Candidate must:
- Work toward better understanding safety culture in the highway infrastructure management environment and develop new techniques to engage employees in the safety process.
- Have the ability to travel throughout the region.
- Moderate lifting; up to 50 pounds.
- Dexterity to write and manipulate computer, keyboard, mouse, and smartphone.
- Ability to hear and speak clearly.
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Demonstrated ability to energize and influence at the leadership level.
- Strong interpersonal skills including facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Works well with a variety of individuals.
- Willing and able to travel for work when needed.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set, and execute work plans.
- Solid analytical, organizational, prioritization and project management skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, oral and written skills.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate a message in a clear and precise manner.
- Dependable and highly organized with business maturity, discretion, enthusiasm, and positive attitude.
- Is capable of establishing and nurturing longstanding relationships with industry professionals.
- Adapts well to shifting situations and variable environments.
