INTERN EXPERIENCE AT UNITED WAY WORLDWIDE
Interns at United Way Worldwide gain valuable learning and working experience at a leading nonprofit organization. Our goal is to make every intern who works with us learn about the area of work they believe they plan to pursue after graduation. We want each intern to feel included, valuable, and productive in the department in which they are assigned. In addition to the hands-on experience, you'll receive working at the largest nonprofit in the world, you will be provided with weekly meetings led by subject matter experts and professional development workshops when available.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
The internship opportunities are open to current students attending a college or university. Applicants must be eligible to work within the United States and have all documentation at the time of their application. Internship schedules will generally be Mondays through Thursdays, off on Fridays. Please upload a copy of your transcript as part of your application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Additionally, please provide a link or upload sample work.
Applicants will not be considered if graphic design samples are not submitted along with the application.
POSITION SUMMARY
United Way Worldwide is looking for a qualified intern to join our internal Creative Studio team. Our team supports internal clients from United Way Worldwide with creative projects that span across print, digital, and video. All design projects are required to adhere to the proper implementation of brand graphic standards. Interns can expect to work closely with the Creative Studio team and in tandem with internal clients on a variety of projects that may include: events, website development, network toolkits, social media etc.
Intern will refine their design skills and learn hands-on about graphic design, digital asset management, video production and digital development in a fast-paced environment.?
PRIMARY PROJECTS
* Designing social media posts
* Creating and editing Powerpoint presentations
* Assisting in Brand Folder maintenance
* Editing Photographs for brand consistency
* Attending Design meetings
* Assisting of the creation of internal communications materials
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate school program
* Passion to create on-brand, innovative designs for print and digital applications?
* Excellent design and software skills
* Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite for digital and print design (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word and Powerpoint)
* Attention to detail?
* Please have a portfolio of design samples to share; applicants will not be considered if samples are not submitted along with their application
* Knowledge of Digital Asset Management platforms and organization is a plus
* Experience with animation or motion graphic design is a plus

LOCATION
This internship takes place at the United Way Worldwide office at 701 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
TIME FRAME
Summer - June 1, 2026, to July 23, 2026
Pay Rate: $21.00 /hour-Undergraduate
$25.00 /hour-Graduate
