** Overview
* * We are seeking a

** Alexandria, VA***.Under limited supervision applies technical proficiency to solutions for architectural problems and the coordination of related project activities. The successful candidate will be able to work with all levels of staff within the firm and will take initiative to develop research and design and implement projects from start to finish. The position also supports Business Development and presentation efforts in securing and advancing new projects.##

** Your role
*** Ability to provide superior architectural team leadership, interact with senior management and play a decisive role in project pursuits.
* Ability to make timely design and technical decisions in a collaborative manner while seeking advice of peers and supervisors.
* Ability to present oneself professionally to clients as well as maintain a ‘seller-doer’ approach. Ability to routinely interface with clients and keep client properly informed.
* Ability to perform programming, planning and other conceptual design activities.
* Develop designs and sketches to be input into Revit-based construction documents as well as direct a project team to do the same.
* Demonstrated past ability to lead production of project documents through all stages of design and construction.
* Ability to mentor junior staff and lead a project team to produce a complete set of construction documents. Ability to perform QC review for design & red-line documents for production staff in Blue Beam or using another digital format.
* Ability to coordinate with sub-consultants and other disciplines and mentor junior staff to do the same.
* Ability to perform QC review and contribute needed information to a specification writer.
* Ability to create organized Exhibits in Blue Beam and PowerPoint for client and team review.
* Ability to direct & perform (if required) site observation and field work including site investigations, existing facility inventory and field measured documentation.
* Provide Project Managers with status reports of progress on architectural documents.
* Ability to complete assignments efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner. and self-perform quality control on work prior to publication.
* Communicate regularly with the team and stay within the hours budgeted for tasks assigned.
* Ability to maintain and coordinate project BIM model and strong knowledge in construction document standards and conventions.
* Advanced knowledge of building codes, ADAAG, FEDERAL and STATE compliance requirements and have experience with code reviews processes.
* Ability to interact with regulatory agencies and achieve a consensus.
* Ability to consults product manufacturers, to evaluate, and obtain accurate cost information and select materials, and inspect architectural features in the field.
* Understanding of building materials and construction methods.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Ability to effectively work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
* Initiate tasks independently and follow through for delivery as needed.
* Ability to analyze information and propose effective solutions on own initiative.
* Ability to create basic and informative 3D models in BIM or another digital format.##
** About you
*** Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture required.
* Minimum 15-20 years of relevant work experience to include all phases of architectural drafting, detailing, and assisting with the coordination of consultants.
* The position requires expertise in BIM/Revit and basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Candidate must hold an Architect license in at least 1 state.
* LEED AP or other sustainability certification or ability to obtain within first 6 months of hire.
* Advanced knowledge of building systems and experience in implementation of various building systems and project types such as (aviation, rail, transit, commercial, education)
