Hybrid Homeschool Teacher (1st–3rd Grade) Bethany Lutheran Preschool | Alexandria, VA 2026–2027 School Year
Bethany Lutheran Preschool is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled Hybrid Homeschool Teacher to serve students in grades 1st–3rd for the 2026–2027 school year. This position supports our growing Hybrid Homeschool Program, designed to partner with homeschool families by providing structured, Christ-centered academic instruction both on campus and through guided at‑home learning.
This role is ideal for an organized, flexible educator who thrives in a collaborative model and values strong partnerships with parents.
Purpose of the Position:- To teach the Word of God and provide academic instruction aligned with the Abeka curriculum.
- To support and equip homeschool families through partnership, communication, and instructional guidance.
- To cultivate a structured, joyful, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
- To contribute to the growth and excellence of Bethany’s Hybrid Homeschool Program.
Bethany’s Hybrid Homeschool Program serves registered homeschool students in grades 1–3. Students complete guided academic assignments both on campus and at home under parent supervision.

- History / Social Studies
- Bible Instruction & Christian Character Development
The Hybrid Teacher ensures continuity between classroom instruction and at‑home learning by providing structured lesson plans, pacing guides, and clear communication so students can successfully complete guided work in both settings.
Students may also participate in enrichment classes such as:- Spanish
- STEAM
- Art
- Music
- Physical Education
- Chapel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
- Virginia Professional Educator License (or actively pursuing licensure) preferred.
- Strong Christian faith and commitment to Biblical worldview education.
- Familiarity with or experience teaching the Abeka curriculum.
- Experience working with homeschool families or multi‑grade classrooms preferred.

Instruction & Curriculum:
- Implement Abeka curriculum across grades 1–3 with fidelity and adaptability.
- Develop weekly lesson plans and structured assignment guides for both in‑school and at‑home learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet varied academic levels within a small group setting.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular academic feedback to families.
- Maintain attendance and academic records.
- Maintain consistent communication with homeschool parents.
- Provide clear expectations for guided assignments completed at school and at home.
- Conduct parent conferences as needed.
- Support families in maintaining pacing and academic accountability.
- Integrate Biblical truth throughout all subjects.
- Lead students in prayer and Bible study.
- Model Christ‑centered character and servant leadership.
- Maintain a structured, orderly, and engaging classroom environment.
- Supervise students during assigned duties (recess, lunch, transitions).
- Assist with chapel services, school events, and enrichment programs.
- Attend required faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
- Maintain a substitute teacher folder with lesson plans and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or School Board.
- Monday–Friday (5 days per week) following the school calendar.
- Classroom hours are 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
- Teachers must arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day.
- Attendance required at faculty meetings, professional development days, parent conferences, and school events as scheduled.
