About This Role
This position is to fill in for any staff member who may be out on leave, especially during summer when absences are frequent. The Teacher Assistant supports teachers and the director by creating a caring, safe environment for children and assisting in activities to improve overall care and quality of education. The teacher assistant must communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment, develop positive relationships with children and parents, observe and document children’s interests and progress, and relay that information back to parents and staff.
They are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Director.

- Maintain positive relationships among children, staff, parents, congregation, and community.
- Champion the mission and vision of SJLC and ECEC to our staff, children, and families.
- Create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for all staff, children, and parents.
- Foster a positive and structured classroom environment that engages students and motivates them to succeed.
- Cultivate communication and relationships with parents.
- Continue to grow professionally through training, workshops, continuing education, and other opportunities.
- Fluent English speaker
- Enthusiastic supporter of Christian mission.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with SJLC and ECEC staff, board members, and families.
- Passionate for Early Childhood Education and clear understanding of child development, emotional intelligence, and social development.
- Cooperative and able to work in a team setting.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and needs.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials
