The Lead AVID Tutor will collaborate with and lead their school‑based AVID tutor team in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) elective tutorial process. The tutor will facilitate small‑group, inquiry‑based tutorials for middle or high school students, coordinating with classroom teachers to refine tutorials and increase student success. The role serves as the primary communication and training conduit between the AVID District Director, the tutor team, and the classroom teacher.
Lead Tutors will conduct quarterly reflective feedback and contribute to professional learning agendas that support district‑wide tutor training. They will work the full AVID tutor assignment—approximately 14–25 hours per week—based on the school schedule, and may support school wide tutorials beyond the AVID class when creative programming exists.
Duties and Responsibilities- Meet monthly with the AVID District Director and peer lead tutors from other secondary sites for reflective check‑ins, coaching, guidance, and next steps for implementation refinement.
- Guide and assist the tutor team and AVID elective students in implementing the proper AVID tutorial model with fidelity, including small‑group, inquiry‑based content tutorials and other AVID strategies.
- Collaborate with middle‑school and/or high‑school faculty and other tutors to support and build the AVID School wide system.
- Lead weekly debrief meetings with the AVID tutor team to reflect, refine, and plan additional supports for student group success.
- Coach tutors and students on student‑maintained AVID binders/e‑binders, Focused Notes, planning tools, Tutorial Request Forms, and Scholar Group Forms (TRF/SGF) that support academic classes.
- Assist teachers with data collection and input, certification evidence, and other tracking data that support student growth and overall success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the AVID elective teacher, AVID site coordinator, and/or District Director.
Hourly pay $20.00
Clearances- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Tuberculosis Skin Test.
- Public Health Compliance – must follow safety and health protocols.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- College‑age or completion of a four‑year degree or beyond, with AVID tutor experience and demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Ability to meet the necessary hours to support the elective class schedule.
