Middle School, Social Sciences & Sociology, Special Education Teacher
The Middle School humanities program integrates the study of English, language arts, social studies, geography, and history in an interdisciplinary manner, providing an engaging framework for students to read, write, research, and explore the forces that shape the human experience. Students are challenged to think critically, communicate clearly, engage thoughtfully to appreciate multiple perspectives, and make meaningful connections across disciplines as they develop into increasingly independent learners.
The Middle School humanities teacher is one of four total Middle School humanities teachers. Each humanities teacher teaches two sections of humanities across two grade levels, with each section meeting nine times per week (4 of 5 days are “doubles”).
This role requires assigning regular writing experiences for students with frequent feedback on grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and paragraph/essay layout. In addition, the successful candidate will possess a deep appreciation and understanding of history across multiple lenses and the ability to help students see the many complexities and nuances of humanity in our societal makeup.
The Middle School humanities teacher will also serve as a grade-level advisor, meeting with a group of advisees each morning to start the day.
