Position SummaryThe Associate Director for Recruiting, Admissions and Housing is responsible for the implementation and support of programs directly related to prospective and current students at both Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) and The General Theological Seminary (GTS). The Associate Director reports to the Associate Dean of Students.
Recruitment and Admissions- Work with the Associate Dean of Students, the Director of the Doctoral Program, and the chair of the GTS Admissions Committee to plan and carry out the institutional recruitment plan for both seminaries.
- Serve as an ambassador for both schools, compellingly representing the mission, identity, and curricular programs of VTS and GTS; shepherd prospective students from inquiry to completed application, offering guidance and support as they discern a call to seminary and explore degree offerings.
- Build relationships with Episcopal churches, colleges, and dioceses, and represent the Seminary at conferences.
- Coordinate VTS fall and spring visit days and host GTS webinars.
- Coordinate the development of admissions marketing materials (print and digital), and maintain clear, easy-to-follow application information on the websites.
- Develop and manage the processes for reviewing and assessing admissions applications.
- Serve as staff support for the Admissions Committees of both seminaries, providing timely and complete information to enable informed decisions.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Students in onboarding new students as they begin their program of studies (e.g., summer newsletter for incoming students, ensuring completion of onboarding checklists).
- Supervise the Admissions and Housing Coordinator in managing leads and processing applications.
- In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Students and the Director of Facilities, set housing policies and guidelines and maintain documentation of norms and procedures for living in Seminary-owned property (dorms, apartments, etc.).
- Serve as the primary resource on housing for current and prospective students, providing information and communicating housing guidelines.
- Supervise the Admissions and Housing Coordinator in assigning housing to incoming and current students.
- Coordinate housing for GTS students during January Intensive
- Serve as the liaison between students, student families, and proctors and other departments on campus (Facilities, Information Technology, etc.) concerning housing.
- Recruit, train, and support housing proctors in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Students, fostering community among students living in Seminary housing.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all admissions decisions and student records.
- Maintain up-to-date student data according to institutional policies and best practices.
- Monitor and analyze admissions and housing data to identify trends and opportunities; prepare regular reports for senior administrators.
- Bachelor's degree, or some college and no fewer than 3 years of higher education experience, required.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite — Word and Excel in particular.
- Familiarity with the Episcopal Church and discernment processes.
- Familiarity with student information system required; experience with Populi preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality.
- Availability for occasional weekend events.
- Some overnight travel may be required.
- This is an on-site position in Alexandria, VA.
