Job Description & How to Apply Below

$120,000 annual salary paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one

Full-time on-site position at a single Alpha campus:
Beverly Hills, La Jolla (San Diego), Malibu, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, or Santa Monica, CA;
Greenwich, CT;
Boston, MA;
New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)

40-hour work week, 100% classroom-based with K-3 students

What You Will Be Doing
  • Creating small-group K-3 reading workshops informed by real-time adaptive-app analytics, rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent)
  • Leading daily motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app goals, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (campus currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
  • Analyzing AI-generated student performance data (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction intra-day, not only during pre-planning
  • Conducting running records, fluency assessments, and decoding evaluations that produce measurable gains visible in weekly campus data reviews
  • Serving as the approachable, high-energy adult your K-3 students are excited to see daily
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district-mandated pacing guide; you build lessons directly from student performance data
  • Delivering whole-class lectures; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students engage with adaptive apps for core academic content
  • Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach for other educators, or district-level specialist; you work directly with children in the classroom daily
  • Operating a traditional classroom schedule: subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, standardized test preparation. Your scheduled time is devoted to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups
  • Drafting IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic evaluations; student progress is captured in app analytics and your running records, not special-education documentation
Literacy Coach

Key Responsibilities

Deliver quantifiable K-3 reading improvement across phonics, fluency, and comprehension within a campus environment where student outcomes are assessed weekly.

Basic Requirements
  • Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master’s degree in reading instruction
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-3 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment within the past 5 years, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy
  • Proven capacity to independently design reading lessons and clearly articulate instructional methods and content, without depending on a published curriculum
  • Commitment to full-time, in-person work at one Alpha campus:
    Beverly Hills, La Jolla (San Diego), Malibu, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, or Santa Monica, CA;
    Greenwich, CT;
    Boston, MA;
    New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)
  • Willingness to instruct all K-3 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and incorporate AI and adaptive-learning technologies into daily teaching as these tools develop
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship
NInice-to-have Requirements
  • Practical experience using AI-driven or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for lesson planning or student data interpretation
  • Documented history of measurable reading outcomes (fluency gains in WCPM, accuracy gains, decoding level progression) with specific data you can cite
  • Familiarity with diagnostic reading assessments (DRA, DIBELS, AIMSweb) for creating differentiated instructional groups
  • Background in high-accountability educational settings (independent schools, top-tier charter networks, premium tutoring environments with outcome-focused families)
  • Experience in performance, youth sports coaching, or other activities requiring you to engage and hold the attention of K-3 audiences outside traditional reading instruction
