Episcopal High School seeks an energetic, student-centered educator to join our English Department for two consecutive parental leaves. We welcome candidates interested in fulfilling the combined duration as well as those available for single-term assignments. The ideal candidate brings a passion for literature and composition, inclusive pedagogical practices, and an eagerness to engage with a dynamic boarding school community.

Teaching Assignment
  • First Leave Period (November 2 - December 18, 2026): 4 sections total - 2 sections of 9th-Grade Fundamentals in Literature and Composition and 2 sections of 11th/12th-Grade Electives.
  • Second Leave Period (February 1 - May 28, 2027; excluding 2 weeks for Spring Break): 3 to 4 sections total - 1 section of 10th-Grade Genre Studies and 2 sections of 11th/12th-Grade Electives.
Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, culturally responsive instruction across foundational and elective Upper School English courses.
  • Provide timely, actionable feedback on student writing and analytical thinking.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to maintain curriculum alignment and shared learning goals.
  • Participate actively in the life of the School; optional residential life or co-curricular duties can be integrated into the role based on candidate interest and availability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven success teaching high school English in a collaborative academic environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and belonging in classroom practices.
  • References that speak to adaptability, creativity, and effective rapport-building with adolescents.
Compensation

$660 - $880 per week.
