Employment Status: Part-Time, Hourly
Schedule: 5 hours per day/155 days
Alexandria Public Schools is seeking a caring, dedicated, and student-focused Title I Teacher to provide targeted academic support to students who need additional assistance in reading, mathematics, or other core academic areas. The Title I Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers and school leadership to identify student needs, provide individualized or small-group instruction, monitor progress, and support students in reaching their academic potential.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Provide supplemental instruction to eligible students in small-group or individual settings.
- Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction based on identified student needs.
- Support students in reading, mathematics, and other academic skill areas as appropriate.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align supplemental instruction with classroom curriculum and student goals.
- Review student performance data, classroom assessments, and teacher recommendations to identify areas for additional support.
- Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate documentation of instructional services and student growth.
- Adjust instructional strategies and interventions based on student progress and individual learning needs.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with classroom teachers, administrators, and families as appropriate.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and respectful learning environment.
- Support students' confidence, independence, and development of effective learning habits.
- Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school policies and applicable Title I requirements.
- Participate in required meetings, professional development, and training as requested.
- Perform other duties related to student support as assigned by the school administrator.
Required:
- Current teaching license
- Experience working with elementary or secondary students in an educational setting.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying academic abilities and learning needs.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $30-35 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
