Position: SSN(X) Advanced Manufacturing Strategy Analyst

Overview

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) delivers high-impact technical solutions to complex national security issues, serving the U.S. Navy’s submarine acquisition and shipbuilding industrial base.

Responsibilities

The SSN-(X) Advanced Manufacturing Strategy Analyst will support the Team Submarine SSN-X Future Attack Submarine Program Office by developing and driving strategy for integrating new advanced manufacturing techniques into SSN(X) design and construction plans.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical and programmatic support for risk management, scheduling, strategic advising, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with the Director Submarine Program to assist in developing design requirements for future SSN platforms.
  • Coordinating with client sites at Washington Navy Yard, the Pentagon, and potentially partner and industry stakeholder locations (up to ~15–20% travel).
Location & Travel

This position is located at SPA HQ in Alexandria, VA with potential for light telework and regular travel.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or another technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience with U.S. Navy submarine operations, design, construction, or related support activities.
  • Understanding of ship specifications, ship design, and requirements processes.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Active DoD SECRET security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Engineering Duty Officer (EDO), shipbuilder, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA 05, Warfare Center, or similar experience.
  • Experience integrating advanced manufacturing techniques into ship construction processes.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or another technical field.
