Mid-Engineer Position
Serco North America's Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Mid-Engineer to join our dynamic team. MEO supports the US Navy and other commercial maritime customers in creating, editing, and reviewing ship systems requirements at our Alexandria, Virginia location. The MEO team leverages its corporate knowledge to conceive, design, construct, support and evaluate high-performance maritime systems for a variety of customers.
As an Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams in an integrated design environment to deliver high quality designs to schedule. You will work closely with our MEO team to create an integrated data environment linking requirements to design elements and design deliverables. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a U.S. Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance.
In this role, you will:
- Support one or more of our many Navy contracts including FFX, LSM, EPF, BBG(X), NAVSEA 05S (Specs and Standards), NOMARS, TAO, TAGOS, NOAA, TATS and even possibly some of our international contracts with Saudi, Korea, India, Taiwan and Brazil
- Design, develop, and evaluate engineering solutions for projects or systems
- Conduct research, data analysis, and technical calculations
- Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., design, manufacturing, operations)
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation
- Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements
- Support testing, implementation, and maintenance of engineering systems
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DoW Secret security clearance.
- A Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited university in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or related engineering field such as Ocean Engineering
- 7 years of experience with the US Navy
- A strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a collaborative team environment.
- A strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- To demonstrate a command of engineering principles, methods, and knowledge of ship systems.
- An effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Navy acquisition programs
- The willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and learn new technologies and tools as needed
- The ability to travel 10%
Additional Beneficial
Qualifications:
- Experience with Cameo, another SysML based program, or DOORS system of documenting technical requirements.
- Experience writing or editing technical requirements
- Experience using Flank speed
