Specialist, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Location: Alexandria, VA
Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 per year
The Specialist, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) supports the organization’s budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis processes through partnership with business units and the finance team.
Work EnvironmentHybrid schedule: 3 days in office (Tuesday‑Thursday), 2 days remote (Monday and Friday).
Responsibilities- Analyze spending trends, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations to management.
- Prepare monthly variance analyses and support management in interpreting results.
- Generate financial reports, presentations, and analysis for leadership meetings.
- Support the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting updates.
- Assist with monthly close activities including accruals, reclassifications, and financial reporting coordination with accounting.
- Partner with department leaders to develop and refine financial insights and recommendations.
- Three (3) or more years’ experience in FP&A, finance, accounting, or a related analytical role.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent analytical aptitude with proven ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
- Strong multi‑tasking ability and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
- Proven expertise in Workday Adaptive Planning for budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Knowledge and ability to leverage AI tools to support financial analysis (if applicable).
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field preferred; relevant experience in lieu of degree acceptable.
- Physical ability to perform prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
