Government Contract Pricing Analyst — Role Description

A
Government Contract Pricing Analyst
is responsible for analyzing, developing, and reviewing cost estimates and pricing proposals for government contracts, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and the use of accurate, fair, and reasonable pricing. They work closely with procurement, finance, and contract management teams to support the bid process, maintain compliance, and optimize pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost/Price Analysis & Proposal Development
    :
    Prepare and review complex cost/price proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or other solicitations, ensuring alignment with FAR/DFAR requirements and company policies
  • Pricing Strategy
    :
    Lead pricing efforts for competitive proposals, identify price targets, perform risk/reward trade-off analyses, and develop pricing tactics.
  • Compliance & Compliance Review
    :
    Ensure all pricing submissions comply with federal regulations, contract types (e.g., FFP, T&M, CPFF, FP-LOE, FP-LH, CPAF), and internal policies.
  • Estimating & Modeling
    :
    Perform cost/price modeling, estimates, and analyses for complex contracts, including internal and customer submittal files.
  • Support to Contract Administration
    :
    Assist in contract administration, rate analysis, and profitability reporting by product/service and customer.
  • Collaboration
    :
    Work with cross-functional teams (capture, finance, legal, technical) to interpret solicitation requirements, identify risks, and develop competitive solutions.
  • Review & Validation
    :
    Review of the cost/price proposals of others to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience
    :
    Minimum 5 years of government contracting experience, preferably in CPFF or other cost-reimbursable environments.
  • Knowledge
    :
    Understanding of federal contracting procedures, FAR/DFAR, cost accounting, allocation, and financial controls.
  • Technical Skills
    :
    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, proposal software, and familiarity with government contracting systems.
  • Soft Skills
    :
    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • This is a consultant or part-time role. Flexible availability is a must.
