* Develop policy and strategic direction on casualty, mortuary, military funeral honors, and accountability.
* Represent the Directorate in the development, review, and coordination of all relevant policies.
* Serve as the primary policy advisor to the Director during the formal governance meetings.
* Develop and recommend policy governing the use and future development of the Defense Casualty Information Processing System.
* Represent the Directorate and supports the Director on the Central Joint Mortuary Affairs Board. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
* Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
* Direct deposit of pay is required.
* One year probationary period may be required.
* Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
* One year supervisory probation period may be required.
* This position is designated Non-Critical Sensitive (Secret) and requires a Tier 3 investigation favorably adjudicated.
* This position is a Testing Designated position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. You will be required to sign a DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
* May be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and are subject to random testing thereafter. Appointment to this position may be contingent upon a negative drug test result

Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes providing expert analysis on policies related to casualty, mortuary affairs, military funeral honors, or personnel accountability, developing policies and/or procedures for a large organization, analyzing legislation and regulations to determine their impact on organizational programs, providing guidance to leadership and representing the organization in inter-agency meetings, working groups, or on special projects, guiding the work of other analysts or team members on complex projects and managing program priorities to meet organizational goals, and coordinating services with funeral homes.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). Education A degree in funeral service and a current state license as a funeral director and/or embalmer is preferred, but not required. Additional information
