We are seeking an experienced
Website Project Manager / Frontend Developer to support a federal agency in coordinating day-to-day website operations, intake management, and web design and development. This role serves as a key connector between stakeholders and a technical team of five team members. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-service oriented, and comfortable working across multiple concurrent deadlines while ensuring compliance withSection 508/WCAG standards, the USDWS framework, and modern federal web best practices.
Please note that this position will be contingent upon contract award.
- Support the organization’s web team responsible for external public-facing content and internal portal content
- Oversee a team of five web designers and developers, ensuring quality assurance and coordinating with diverse federal stakeholders
- Respond to publishing and editing requests from staff, creating webpages, news and event items, official guidance documents, and other related web content
- Develop clear, compelling webpage layouts that conform to web design best practices, federal plain language requirements, and WCAG/Section 508 standards
- Format and upload PDFs, images, and other files to the website
- Provide timely, high-quality customer support by handling requests and inquiries, resolving issues, and tracking work through ticketing workflows
- Track all requests/inquiries within the web team ticketing system (e.g., Service Now and Microsoft Lists) and monitor dashboards to ensure work is prioritized, annotated, and completed
- Advise staff on web design best practices, including consistent layouts, accessibility compliance, and use of visuals to improve clarity and engagement
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field
- Demonstrated project management expertise, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple, simultaneous web-based projects
- Proficiency in web design and frontend web development with a strong focus on creating user‑friendly, visually appealing, efficient, and responsive interfaces
- Knowledge of best practices for modern web standards, accessibility, and website optimization techniques
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, articulate ideas clearly, and maintain effective team interactions
- Previous experience working with public service organizations
- Experience working with a science‑focused organization
- Experience collaborating with external partners(e.g., other agencies, academic organizations, or industry) on outreach content and announcements
- Strong familiarity with
US Web Design System (USWDS) patterns and component‑based page building - Advanced experience using
Drupal(including components and Layout Builder) in an enterprise web environment - Experience improving content performance through
SEO best practices and structured web content formatting - Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of requests using
Service
Now(or comparable ticketing/workflow systems) - Experience guiding stakeholders on best practices forweb layout, accessibility, and usability
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloudfor basic image optimization and web‑ready asset preparation
