The Cloud Architect and Infrastructure Lead (CAIL) provides senior-level technical leadership and subject matter expertise in the design, implementation, and management of secure cloud infrastructure supporting a Department of Defense mission. This role is responsible for architecting, maintaining, and optimizing AWS Gov Cloud environments while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity
, resiliency, and operational requirements.

The CAIL serves as the technical authority for cloud infrastructure decisions, guiding engineering teams and advising government stakeholders on scalable, secure, and mission-aligned cloud architectures.

• Design, implement, and maintain AWS Gov Cloud architectures supporting DoD systems and applications.
• Lead cloud infrastructure planning, deployment, and optimization efforts across compute, storage, networking, and security services.
• Ensure cloud architectures meet DoD security, compliance, and resiliency requirements.
• Support implementation of security controls in alignment with RMF, NIST standards, and applicable STIGs.
• Serve as the technical lead for cloud infrastructure operations, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, Dev Sec Ops , and application teams to ensure secure and efficient cloud solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, architecture documentation, and design reviews for government stakeholders.
• Support ATO activities, continuous monitoring, and audit readiness related to cloud infrastructure.

• Minimum 6 years of experience supporting DoD or Federal IT architecture initiatives.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing and managing AWS Gov Cloud architectures.
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud infrastructure components, including networking, compute, storage, and identity/access management.
• Experience supporting secure, compliant cloud environments in regulated or classified settings.

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale DoD cloud programs.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and Dev Sec Ops practices.
• Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity frameworks and cloud security best practices.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
