User Experience Subject Matter Expert

CALIBRE Systems, Inc., an employee‑owned mission‑focused solutions and digital transformation company, is looking for a highly motivated User Experience Subject Matter Expert to join our dynamic team supporting a federal client.

This role requires an innovative and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with designers, back‑end engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, scalable digital solutions. The budgeted salary for this role is $165,000 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct user research and analysis to inform user experience strategies and design decisions.
  • Gather and document user requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and federal standards using a variety of methods such as interviews, focus groups, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including developers, analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders, to design and optimize user interfaces for data‑driven applications.
  • Perform usability testing and data analysis to validate design effectiveness and improve user workflows.
  • Develop and implement data visualization solutions to present complex datasets in clear, actionable formats for stakeholders.
  • Maintain documentation for UX processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal accessibility and security guidelines in all UX deliverables.
  • Provide expert guidance on integrating UX principles into Agile development cycles.
  • Create rapid prototypes and wireframes to validate their usability with end users to inform iterative development cycles.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced proficiency in quantitative research methods, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques.
  • Deep understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, metadata management, and compliance.
  • Ability to properly handle and mask sensitive healthcare data to meet Federal data compliance standards.
  • Basic working knowledge of data privacy (specifically PII/PHI), data science, the software development life cycle, Federal data policies, the Tricare Military Health System.
  • Expertise in UX tools and methodologies (e.g., wire framing, prototyping, usability testing).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for identifying and resolving user experience and data‑related issues.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience facilitating collaboration between technical teams, business stakeholders, and compliance officers.
  • Understanding of Agile and SAFe frameworks to support iterative UX development.
  • Master’s degree in Human‑Computer Interaction, Data Science, Computational Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in UX design and research, with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Federal agencies (preferably healthcare and/or data‑centric projects).
  • 3+ years of experience in a lead or solo UX practitioner role supporting a highly technical and cross‑functional team.
  • Proven track record of supporting data‑centric projects in an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex UX projects involving large, sensitive datasets (qualitative and quantitative) and multiple stakeholders.
  • Active Secret Clearance at the Department of Defense (or eligibility to obtain a clearance).
  • Ability to work east coast business hours (8am‑5pm).
  • Active Security+ certification.
