Lead Mission-Critical Data Center Operations

DMI, LLC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Center Technician to support SEC facilities in Alexandria, VA. This is a senior-level leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations within a complex, high-availability data center environment.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to manage infrastructure activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all data center functions.

Role Overview

The Senior Data Center Technician provides leadership for day-to-day data center operations and ensures the integrity, performance, and documentation of infrastructure systems. This role requires strong coordination with architecture teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to manage capacity, workflows, power distribution, cabling, and change management processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily data center operations and infrastructure activities

  • Provide daily updates and weekly reporting on:

    • Capacity and rack utilization

    • Environmental conditions

    • Workflows and schematics

    • Hardware inventory

  • Manage power and cabling requests for all equipment and racks

  • Schedule and coordinate hardware moves, adds, and changes (MACs)

  • Maintain accurate documentation including:

    • Wire map connections

    • Capacity and utilization reports

    • Installation documentation

  • Partner with system architecture teams to develop installation documents

  • Validate requirements for System Change Requests and implementation activities

  • Utilize change and configuration management systems such as Team Track and Service Now

  • Track operational status using tools such as NLyte DCIM

  • Coordinate vendors supporting data center infrastructure

  • Lead data center maintenance activities and ensure operational continuity

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing data center environments

  • Proven experience supporting complex, mission-critical operations

  • Experience with change and configuration management systems (e.g., Team Track, Service Now)

  • Strong understanding of capacity planning and infrastructure management

  • Certified Data Center Engineer (CDCE) certification or equivalent

Education & Substitutions

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.

Substitution guidelines:

  • No degree: 2 additional years of experience

  • Associate’s degree: 1 additional year of experience

  • Bachelor’s degree:
    Meets requirement

  • Master’s or PhD:
    No additional experience required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Multiple data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, CDCE)

  • Advanced experience with DCIM platforms and analytics

  • Knowledge of data center tier standards and compliance frameworks

  • Understanding of PUE and data center efficiency metrics

  • Experience supporting critical infrastructure systems

  • Strong project coordination and vendor management skills

Security Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Public Trust background investigation and/or Public Trust clearance

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
