The Cloud Cybersecurity Manager (CCM) provides senior-level, multi-disciplinary leadership for cybersecurity operations and compliance efforts supporting a Department of Defense mission environment. This role is responsible for overseeing cloud-based cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring compliance with DoD and NIST security frameworks, and leading incident response, risk management, and continuous monitoring activities.
The CCM works closely with government stakeholders, technical teams, and cybersecurity personnel to deliver secure, resilient, and compliant cloud solutions while proactively managing cyber risk in a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight for cybersecurity operations supporting cloud-based DoD systems.
- Manage cybersecurity projects and initiatives across cloud environments, ensuring alignment with mission and compliance requirements.
- Oversee implementation and enforcement of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and applicable STIGs.
- Lead Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, continuous monitoring, and audit readiness efforts.
- Direct incident detection, response, investigation, and remediation activities.
- Coordinate with engineers, ISSOs, ISSEs, and government cybersecurity authorities to manage risk and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and reporting artifacts.
- Provide status updates, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership and government stakeholders.
- Minimum 8 years of experience managing cybersecurity projects in a cloud-based environment.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- NIST SP 800-53 security controls
- Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Cybersecurity incident handling and response
- Experience leading cybersecurity teams and managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity policies and compliance requirements.
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO)
- Federal IT Security Professional – Manager (FITSP-M)
- GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)
- GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA)
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
- GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC)
- GIAC Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
- CISSP – ISSMP
- CISSP
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale DoD or federal cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops , Zero Trust architectures, and cloud service providers in classified or regulated environments.
- Strong communication skills with experience briefing technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to balance security, mission needs, and operational efficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
