Description
This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data dos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman Cloud Operations Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.
In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement, helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:- Support operation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) across multiple security enclaves.
- Perform system administration tasks including monitoring, patching, configuration management, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation processes.
- Support Dev Sec Ops pipelines by assisting with application deployment, integration, and monitoring.
- Monitor system performance and availability, identify issues, and elevate as needed.
- Support compliance with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and STIG requirements.
- Assist with asset management, backup, and recovery processes to ensure operational continuity.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and support incident response activities.
- Collaborate with Dev Ops, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to support integrated system operations.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 4-8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2-6 years of relevant experience.
- At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:
- Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Basic System Administrator roles (e.g.,
Security+, Network+, A+, or equivalent
), - Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,
- Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.
- Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Basic System Administrator roles (e.g.,
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cloud operations engineering or related field.
- Experience supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or system administration functions.
- Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and private cloud platforms.
- Experience performing system monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuration management tasks.
- Experience working with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience developing and deploying systems via Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience supporting cloud operations across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.
- Experience working with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation).
- Exposure to Dev Sec Ops pipelines and automation practices.
- Entry-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent).
- Experience with AI/ML model serving and deployment.
- Knowledge of DoD standards, reference designs, and policy.
Pay Range: $87,100.00 - $
