Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman UI/UX Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations. In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production‑ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Support design and development of user interfaces and user experiences for WDP applications and services.
- Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to support UI/UX design efforts.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, and product teams to implement UI/UX designs into applications.
- Support development of front‑end components using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or similar).
- Assist in conducting user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis to improve user experience.
- Support implementation of UI/UX standards, design systems, and accessibility requirements (e.g., Section
508 compliance). - Contribute to improving user workflows, navigation, and interaction design across applications.
- Support integration of UI components into Dev Sec Ops pipelines for deployment and testing.
- Assist in troubleshooting UI issues and supporting performance optimization of front‑end applications.
- Maintain UI/UX documentation, design artifacts, and style guides.
- Participate in SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human‑Computer Interaction, Design, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 4–8 years of relevant experience
OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2–6 years of relevant experience. - Proficiency in human‑factors principles and Section
508 accessibility requirements. - Strong knowledge of Dev Sec Ops practices and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience in at least three of the following:
- Software testing and automated test pipelines.
- Designing and developing enterprise‑grade web applications.
- Modern front‑end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue, or similar).
- Creating wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and design systems.
- Conducting usability testing and incorporating user feedback into design improvements.
- Implementing responsive design and cross‑browser compatibility standards.
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Experience supporting UI/UX across multi‑enclave DoD environments.
- Experience conducting usability testing and user research.
- Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe
XD, Sketch). - Experience implementing design systems and accessibility standards (e.g., Section
508). - Experience supporting data visualization interfaces or analytics platforms.
- Exposure to Dev Sec Ops pipelines and front‑end deployment processes.
- Experience designing data visualization interfaces for analytics and AI‑enabled applications.
- Experience integrating UI components with RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Experience with accessibility compliance (Section
508, WCAG). - Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams in Agile or SAFe environments.
