OverviewGovCIO is currently hiring a Zero Trust Team Lead to drive the implementation and governance of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This role combines deep cybersecurity expertise with strong project management capabilities to lead teams, coordinate schedules, and ensure successful delivery of Zero Trust initiatives aligned with organizational and mission objectives. This position will be located in Alexandria, VA, and will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities- Planning, design, and execution of Zero Trust Architecture strategies across enterprise IT environments.
- Multiple cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
- And maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- With cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of Zero Trust principles.
- As the primary point of contact for government leadership and stakeholders, translating technical requirements into actionable plans.
- The implementation of identity, access management, micro-segmentation, and continuous monitoring solutions.
- Compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks, including RMF, NIST 800-207, and Zero Trust maturity models.
- Progress against milestones and deliverables, reporting status to executive leadership and program sponsors.
- Workshops, training sessions, and documentation efforts to support Zero Trust adoption and awareness.
- And resolve project issues, dependencies, and resource constraints proactively.
High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills & Experience- Certifications:
DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level I Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CAP, GSLC, or equivalent). - Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in project or program management.
- Proven experience implementing Zero Trust principles in enterprise or government environments.
- Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity policies, frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams and complex project schedules.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) cybersecurity programs.
- Professional credentials such as CISSP, PMP, CISM, or Zero Trust-related certifications.
- Experience with tools and platforms supporting Zero Trust (e.g., identity providers, endpoint protection, network segmentation).
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies.
Clearance Level: Must have an active Secret clearance
