Job Description

Steel Thread Software, Inc. has an URGENT need for a highly skilled and innovative Dev Ops Subject Matter Expert who is looking to join a fast paced start up environment working with both commercial and Government clients. Dev Ops Subject Matter Experts (SME) ensures the quality, reliability, and stability of all production systems and services while employing Dev Ops best practices.

SMEs are cross-functional experts who are primarily charged with facilitating organizational collaboration, establishing and enforcing enterprise-wide process and seeking opportunities for improvements in delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation of complex solutions by making information technology/information management related recommendations.
  • Advise on organizational improvements, optimization, or maintenance efforts in the following specialties: information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, risk management, software life-cycle management and development methodologies, visual design, information architecture, copywriting, and content management.
  • Leads engagement with software developers and infrastructure engineers to integrate software development and delivery from inception to full operation, ensuring robust released software and systems, typically for high traffic services or key infrastructure.
  • Leads in the analysis of technical requirements of applications to ensure systems provide required availability, latency, scalability and efficiency.
  • Develops the technical "vision for fault tolerance, performance enhancement and configuration management of applications, and may lead in implementation.
  • Advises infrastructure team regarding current and future systems needs and repercussions of infrastructure changes.
  • May participate in the development of infrastructure and platform roadmaps.
  • Leads the release of new software and systems, typically for high traffic services or key infrastructure.

Key

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of a particular area, such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Dev Ops, Automated Quality Testing, Software Configuration Management and Automated Platform provisioning.
  • Application of principles, methods and knowledge of IT service management and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and implement the ITIL change control standards and to incorporate them into policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of, and administration experience with Configuration Management tools such as IBM Rational Clear Case, Clear Quest, Subversion Jenkins and Nexus.
  • Expert proficiency in Linux system administration.
  • Expert proficiency in deploying Cloud based infrastructure. Expert proficiency in modern SCM packages (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.).
  • Advanced to Expert proficiency in programming languages (Java, Ruby, C/C++, Node.JS etc), database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, Redis), and networking protocols used for the implementation of supported systems
  • 5 or more years of progressively complex related experience.
  • Experience working in highest levels of large organizations; C-level reporting, large meeting facilitation etc.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in an information technology, information management, or a related field.
