Role Summary
Syneren is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to lead the strategic transition of our legacy IT environment. The primary objective of this role is to architect and execute the migration of on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure while ensuring strict adherence to modern cybersecurity mandates. The ideal candidate will be deeply versed in IT modernization strategies, specifically focusing on building secure, resilient networks rooted in Zero Trust and advanced identity management.
CoreResponsibilities
Guide the phased migration of legacy on-premises infrastructure to the Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
Architect secure hybrid and cloud-native network topologies.
Zero Trust ImplementationEnsure all infrastructure development and network engineering aligns strictly with Zero Trust principles, moving defenses from static, network-based perimeters to focus on users, assets, and resources.
Identity & Access IntegrationApply the Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) policy framework to ensure continuous authentication and least-privilege access across the Azure environment.
IT ComplianceAlign all network designs and cloud deployments with IT principles, Enterprise Cloud policies, and applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
Systems OptimizationMonitor network performance, troubleshoot complex routing/switching issues within the hybrid cloud, and optimize infrastructure for mission-critical workloads.
Required Qualifications & Experience Technical ExpertiseProven experience in network engineering, specifically routing, switching, and firewall management in both on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments (VNet, Express Route, Azure Firewall).
Deep understanding of the ICAM strategy and practical experience implementing Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) pillars.
IT KnowledgeFamiliarity with IT principles, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and secure cloud computing architectures (e.g., SCCA).
Clearance & CertificationsMust possess an active security clearance.
Must meet 8570.01-M / 8140 (DoDD 8140.01) requirements for IAT/IAM Level II or III.
Azure-specific certifications (e.g., AZ-700, AZ-305).
Soft SkillsStrong ability to translate complex technical architectures to non-technical stakeholders and guide cross-functional teams through the migration lifecycle.
