The Cybersecurity Analyst – Crypto Modernization supports the Office of the Deputy CIO for Cybersecurity (DCIO-CS) in advancing Department-wide cryptographic modernization initiatives, key management programs, and transition planning for future cryptographic technologies. The analyst provides technical research, policy analysis, systems engineering support, risk assessments, stakeholder coordination, and implementation planning to ensure secure cryptographic capabilities across Department information systems, networks, platforms, and weapon systems.

The position supports the Department’s Digital Modernization Strategy and enterprise cybersecurity objectives through development of policies, procedures, roadmaps, implementation guidance, and technical assessments related to cryptographic modernization and key management infrastructure (KMI/KME).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide research and development support to evolve cryptographic modernization and key management policies and procedures.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of cryptographic modernization policies, specifically considering the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).
  • Analyze impacts of National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and OMB guidance to ensure alignment with digital modernization objectives.
  • Develop executive-level briefings, reports, technical analyses, and decision papers.
  • Produce research summaries and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Support preparation of monthly status reports, white papers, and technical deliverables.
  • Present findings to Government leadership and technical stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5 years of cybersecurity, information assurance, cryptography, or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government, DoD, Intelligence Community, or National Security programs.
  • Experience developing technical analyses, policy recommendations, or cybersecurity documentation.
