RoleSummary
The Senior Project Manager directly performs planning, design, and construction program oversight and management services and other related project consulting services assignments contracted for delivery by the Company. This position coordinates, monitors, and reports on design and construction activities and will assume a leadership role on complex projects. The incumbent facilitates quality control, maintains design and construction schedules, manages construction, and serves as owner representative.
The Senior Project Manager manages potentially large and multiple project delivery teams to provide coordinated expertise, standardized tools, and project management advice to the client. The Senior Project Manager trains and mentors Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers.
- Perform management and consulting services as assigned ensuring projects continue on schedule and within budgetary and quality requirements.
- Ensure documentation relative to outstanding issues, change orders and requests for information are appropriately maintained and tracked.
- Track and control construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and money allocated, avoiding unnecessary delays and cost overruns.
- Work with client to ensure effective regulatory agency relations and planning to expedite project design approval and permitting processes.
- Ensure effective communications and a collaborative work environment. When leading projects, provide management and oversight; when a team member, help develop tools and reports.
- Supervise, develop, and maintain program budgets, schedules and status reports.
- Provide oversight and management of external vendors.
- Oversee performance of all trade contractors and review plans to ensure standards of building performance, quality, cost schedules, and safety are maintained.
- Review project delivery team member’s invoices and applications for payment for compliance with all contracts.
- Bachelor of Architecture, Engineering, or Building Construction.
- Six to nine years of experience in healthcare design, construction, and/or facilities industry and three to five years of direct project management experience with construction projects of increasing complexity.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the delivery of healthcare facilities including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and psychiatric hospitals from programming through facility activation.
- Must have been in responsible charge of the delivery of major projects exceeding $50 million construction cost and of significant complexity in at least two categories listed above.
- Knowledge of healthcare design and construction, building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation, cost analysis and contract negotiation.
- Knowledge of project coordination/management, budgeting and scheduling concepts and procedures; and the process of project planning, design, and construction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, solid interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities, and workgroup facilitation skills.
- Leadership skills and ability to initiate and maintain clear communications.
- Demonstration of leadership ability, including the management and delegation of appropriate tasks to technical and non‑technical support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to gather needs and translate requests into potential solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software is preferred.
