Operating Room Service Leader; RN

Job Description

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for an OR Services Leader opening. This role will support the Ortho Spine service line.

Full time, 40 hours per week. No on‑call, holidays, or overnights.

• Minimum of 2 years of OR nursing experience within Orthopedics or Spine service line.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree in Nursing; if Associate's, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Basic Life Support certification, American Heart Association; CNOR or equivalent specialty certification within 12 months of hire.
• Scrub background and at least 2 years of RN experience in Orthopedics or Spine.

• Ensures effective and efficient functioning of the unit and achievement of optimal patient outcomes.
• Delivers safe, high quality and cost-effective preoperative services.
• Demonstrates integrated approach toward case/patient outcomes.
• Identifies strategies for cost‑effective and efficient practices without compromising safety or outcomes.
• Promotes creative thinking among staff, peers, and colleagues to develop new and innovative devices, practices, and strategies.
• Serves as primary liaison, clinical lead, and resource for the assigned surgical specialty and/or unit while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements and Joint Commission standards.
• Adheres to Inova Health System's policies and procedures while coaching staff on compliance and identifying clinical and operational variables affecting patient and case outcomes.
• Mentors team members in identifying intra‑operative outcomes.
• Ensures practice improvements by serving as a role model, providing direction and guidance to others regarding preoperative services and specialty.
