American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring BLS, ACLS, and 2 years of critical care experience.
Details- 16-bed Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Patient population includes stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, brain tumors, cerebral edema/increased ICP, and hydrocephalus cases
- Also manages acute respiratory failure, sepsis, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
- Titration of drips required including Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, Phenylephrine, and Dopamine
- Two clinical techs support the unit for 16 patients
- RT equipment includes mechanical ventilators, HFNC, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
- RNs required to read their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
- No dedicated tele/monitor techs on the unit
- Night shift schedule of 7pm-7am
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to MSICU, PCCU, and unit boarders
- Epic EMR experience needed
- Active RN license (VA or Compact)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Cardiac experience not required
- Must pass an ECG exam on day two of assignment (pass/fail)
- Provide critical care nursing to a complex neuro ICU patient population
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
- Major holidays include Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day, and Thanksgiving/day after
- Minor holidays include Labor Day, 4th of July, and Memorial Day
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees may return 12 months after their last shift worked
