American Traveler is seeking an experienced Neuro ICU RN with a VA or compact license and 2+ years of critical care experience for a 16-bed unit with a 1:2 patient ratio.
Details- 16-bed Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Patient population includes stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, brain tumors, increased ICP, hydrocephalus, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleed, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
- Manages titratable and set-rate drips including nor epinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine, and dopamine
- Two clinical techs support the unit's 16 patients
- RT equipment includes mechanical ventilators, HFNC, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
- No tele/monitor techs on the unit; RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips
- Philips brand telemetry monitors used
- Epic EMR experience required
- Night shift schedule, 7pm-7am
- Every other weekend required
- Floating expectations include MSICU, PCCU, and boarding patients on the unit
- No on-call requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Cardiac experience not required
- Must pass an ECG exam on day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Neuro ICU setting
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year (Major:
Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day/Day after; Minor: Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day) - Returning permanent employees may reapply 12 months after their last shift worked
