Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a detail-oriented and customer-focused temporary Personnel Security Analyst to support our security operations program in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in personnel security support service who is looking to grow their career in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with federal security regulations while delivering high-quality experience to employees, candidates, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Perform data entry and administrative support services to manage and track background investigations and security clearance information for agency personnel.
  • Create initial security record within the agency’s security case management and tracking system.
  • Assist with the initiation and tracking of background investigation for submission to DCSA.
  • Review security forms (SF-85, SF-85P, SF-86) for completion and accuracy.
  • Verify sponsorship within USAccess and ensure individual schedules and attends their enrollment appointment.
  • Validate scheduling of the investigation and issue security approval notice.
  • Provide weekly status updates to the agency’s personnel security leadership.
  • Provide administrative assistance for handling, control, logging and status-tracking, filing, and disposition of background investigation reports.
  • Perform personnel security support functions and assist with fingering (scanning fingerprints into Live Scan), initiation of background investigations, requesting additional information, and processing clearance verification requests.
  • Review background investigation reports and provide assessments of their adequacy, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Determine adequacy and completeness of background investigations and develop or collect data/information.
  • Value authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of data/documentation obtained from various sources.
  • Request additional investigative actions or develop usable information as needed; process requests for additional information on security packages and follow up on correspondence received.
  • Use the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DCSA) National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) system to review security forms for HUD applicants or existing personnel.
  • Upload applicable documents into NBIS.
  • Conduct investigative checks such as PIPS/CVS checks, credit checks, FBI fingerprint checks, FBI name checks, NCIC checks, and selective service registration checks.
  • Answer general security processing inquiries and forward complex inquiries to the appropriate agency Personnel Security Specialist.
  • Prepare memoranda, reports and other reference documents.
  • Advise the Personnel Security Specialist when a candidate has failed to provide the requested information; review monthly organizational reports for data integrity, assist with data reconciliation as required.
  • Properly safeguard sensitive information including Privacy Act Protected Information, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and Classified National Security Information up to Secret Level.
Qualifications – Required
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain or maintain a Top Secret Clearance and/or Tier 5 favorably adjudicated investigation.
  • 3‑5 years’ experience in processing investigations utilizing NBIS/eAPP, CVS Central Verification System and USAccess.
  • 3‑5 years’ experience in customer service, reviewing of forms and making recommendations to the government.
  • Working knowledge of 32 CFR 117 (NISPOM).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Customer service mindset with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of and ability to meet agency timelines and skill in prioritizing competing tasks while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong writing skills, experience crafting analysis of data collected.
  • Experience understanding exception codes such as waivers, conditions, and deviations.
