Electric Service Worker, 1st Class; Fairfax​/Alex-Arlington​/Herndon

Job Summary

Our Herndon, Alexandria, and Fairfax offices are recruiting for Electric Service Workers, 1st Class. These offices have multiple vacancies. This position requires a self‑starter who can effectively prioritize and who doesn't mind driving and working alone.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following:

• Repair and maintenance of both overhead and underground electrical distribution lines
• First responder to power outages
• Working closely with Regional Operations Centers within the Dominion service territory
• Working alone 90% of the time
• Working a rotating shift
• Available for call‑outs during outages and/or storm restoration events
• Eligible for premium pay for applicable overtime hours
• Starting rate $51.91/hour for fully qualified applicants, including 10% wage supplement for reporting to Fairfax and Herndon Office (15% for Alexandria with $325 commute stipend)

This position requires a minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience in overhead and underground electrical line work (a partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications).

Selected individual must be able to assess at competency level 4 in the Dominion Lineman Development program in both overhead and underground energized line work (successful candidates must take a pre‑employment assessment).

• Respond to underground and overhead outages, locate and repair cable faults, replace fuses with appropriate hot sticks, perform minimal switching, remove trees from overhead conductors, replace streetlight and watchlight eyes and bulbs
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs
• Solid understanding of industrial electrical distribution systems and maintenance techniques
• Competent in switching practices related to the electrical distribution industry
• Knowledge of safety processes and practices within the industrial electrical distribution industry
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Understand industry 3‑way communication method
• Self‑starter who can work alone 90% of the time while still being part of a local team
• Meet and maintain applicable NERC/FERC requirements
• Ability to obtain a valid class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of employment
• Call‑out, overtime availability, and ability to work rotating shifts required
• Weight restrictions apply; must be able to maintain weight below 290 lbs
• Prefer individuals who have completed a recognized Line Worker Development program
• Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3‑E5, W1‑W2, or O1‑O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined
