SUMMARY:

A General Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings in such trades at painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings
* Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
* Uses minor plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceiling.
* Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
* Paints structures and equipment.
* Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
* Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
* Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken window panes.
* Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
* Inspect buildings and equipment for needed maintenance or repairs.
* Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
* Sufficient experience is documented with a minimum 10-year practical experience in the field for which proposed; EPA certification Type I, II or III required
* Computer skills required:
Basic computer skills
* Mechanical Aptitude
* Applied analytical skills to recognize when a specialized trade is needed for various tasks
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
* Strong troubleshooting abilities PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT:
* Frequently required to stand
* Frequently required to walk
* Occasionally required to sit
* Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
* Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
* Continually required to talk or hear
* Occasionally required to taste or smell
* Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
* Occasionally work in high, precarious places
* Occasionally around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals
* Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions
* While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
* The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
