License/Certification Requirements: Active Journeyman Electrical License issued by the state of Virginia, Maryland, or District of Columbia.

Responsibilities

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within mission-critical environments such as data centers and secure facilities. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance, responding to emergencies, and ensuring all systems operate at peak efficiency to support continuous uptime.

  • Operate and maintain electrical systems including switch gear, UPS, generators, batteries, and life safety systems.
  • Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor and control building systems using Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Respond to faults, deficiencies, and emergency situations to ensure safety and system reliability.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of maintenance activities and system performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, and contractors to support facility operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to understand site-specific processes and procedures such as how to report an incident or outage, procedure execution, PM standards, Work Orders tracking system.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, including work with generators, controls, and life safety systems.
  • Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers or industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting equipment over six feet.
  • Active electrical license (as required by location).
  • Compliance with all city, state, and federal licensing and certification requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AA/BS degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or Journeyman Electrical License with relevant experience.
  • OEM or military training in electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, maintenance protocols, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate complex electrical systems, diagnose malfunctions, and estimate parts and labor requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation and schematics.
