SUMMARY
A General Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings
- Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors
- Use minor plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings
- Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets
- Paint structures and equipment
- Replace or repair concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
- Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles
- Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery
- Inspect buildings and equipment for needed maintenance or repairs
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Sufficient experience is documented with a minimum 10-year practical experience in the field for which proposed; EPA certification Type I, II or III required
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Applied analytical skills to recognize when a specialized trade is needed for various tasks
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Strong troubleshooting abilities
- Frequently required to stand
- Frequently required to walk
- Occasionally required to sit
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
- Continually required to talk or hear
- Occasionally required to taste or smell
- Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally work in high, precarious places
- Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals
- Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus
