Overview
Alexandria's Social Services Advisory Board is part of a formal system of Boards and Commissions that advises City Council. We seek additional members to help shape social welfare policies. Board members meet once per month for 1–2 hours and are expected to commit approximately 4 hours per month. Issue areas include Family Services.
Responsibilities- Interests itself in all matters of social welfare for City residents, including housing, mental health, and related issues.
- Monitors the formulation and implementation of social welfare programs in the City.
- Advises City officials on public welfare issues such as food insecurity, youth development, and domestic violence.
- Submits to City Council an annual report and other reports of interest and concern.
- Age 16 or older.
- Interest in family services and social welfare matters.
Term length: 3 years. Term limit: 10 years.
