Mobile Equipment Operator 1 (WS209)

Salary: $33,405 - $60,112 ($16.06/hr min.)

Salary: $35,734 - $64,314 ($17.18/hr min.)

• Operate a variety of mobile equipment—including tractors, dump trucks, forklifts, and other power equipment—to transport personnel, supplies and materials.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to maintain safe, reliable operation.
• Supervise, guide, and oversee the work of lower‑graded operators and laborers as required.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles and perform ancillary construction or maintenance tasks such as the installation of guard rails or fencing when needed.

• 50% Operate forklift to transport, load, unload and store supplies; operate front‑end loader and box blade attachment; perform preventive maintenance on all lawn equipment and handheld power equipment.
• 20% Operate tractor for trash collection and golf cart for campus mail delivery.
• 20% Perform mechanical work on all equipment—inspections, oil changes, etc.
• 5% Operate trucks with trailers for hauling materials and equipment.
• 5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• 60% Operate and perform preventive maintenance on field tractors and all lawn equipment; operate forklift and power equipment for material handling.
• 30% Operate tractor and/or golf carts for trash collection and campus mail delivery.
• 5% Operate university trucks with trailers for hauling materials and equipment.
• 5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Mobile Equipment Operator 1:
  • No specific experience or training required.
  • Proficiency with field tractors, dump trucks, vans, buses, forklifts, steel wheel rollers, and auxiliary equipment such as asphalt kettles or concrete mixers.
  • Ability to provide guidance to lower‑graded operators and perform minor repairs.
• Mobile Equipment Operator 2:
  • One year of mobile equipment operation experience.
  • Experience operating heavier tractors, gang mowers, cargo vans, buses, and specialized trucks (winch, A‑frame, aerial lift, etc.).
  • Experience in crew‑load assistance, vehicle record maintenance, and occasional construction tasks.
