Alfred State invites passionate nursing professionals to apply for a full-time, tenure‑track Practical Nursing Professor position beginning in Fall 2026. A 12‑month appointment is preferred; however, a 10‑month prorated faculty appointment may also be considered.

The Practical Nursing (PN) Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to students enrolled in a growing PN program. This role supports student learning, promotes safe and competent nursing practice, and ensures that instruction aligns with state regulations, program standards, and current evidence‑based nursing practice.

Key responsibilities include curriculum development, faculty recruitment and evaluation, didactic, skills, and clinical instruction, budget management, student retention, and maintaining clinical partnerships.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and deliver engaging course materials.

  • Play an active role in curriculum development, program assessment, and student recruitment.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Nursing Education; will consider candidates with a bachelor’s degree in nursing who are enrolled in and actively pursuing a master's degree or higher in nursing.
  • NYS Professional Nursing License & current CPR certification.
  • Strong teaching, clinical, communication, and computer skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.

Preferred:

  • Doctorate in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience with simulation‑based learning.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary for this position is $80,000. Employees are also offered extensive healthcare and retirement options, including the opportunity for a pension.
