Position: Dual Language Spanish/English Teacher for 26/27SY

Position Definition

To provide leadership for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive school health services program which enhances the educational process through the removal of health barriers to learning by promoting an optimal level of health, wellness and safety for students and employees.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Explicitly model, through communication and actions, the core values and beliefs in the district's goals and mission.
  • Execute tasks connected to the Strategic Plan in the professional development department.
  • Ensure that health‑related services for students with disabilities are in alignment with provisions that are mandated within each student IEP or 504 plan.
  • Administration and coordination of a comprehensive school health program:
    • Student physical, dental, eye examinations and immunization in accordance with state law.
    • Hearing and vision screening of students.
    • Emergency care of student injury and sickness.
    • Communicable disease control.
    • Referral of identified student health concerns.
    • Health record‑keeping in accordance with state law.
    • Safe and healthful school environment.
    • Health promotion and support to employees.
    • Provide for schools, supplies, and equipment necessary to meet the daily needs of students.
  • Coordinate delivery of health services for the school district in accordance with requirements of the district, school code and regional office of education.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of nursing/CNA staff.
  • Administration of Board Policies and Administration Regulations applicable to the area of school health services.
  • Conduct in‑service meetings for Health Office Personnel for the purpose of conveying and/or sharing information on student health needs, service delivery, educational programs, and/or improving professional skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure district compliance with all state and local health regulations.
  • Submit all required health reports and statistics as required to the Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Public Health and local Health Departments.
  • Manage the District Medicaid reimbursement program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Minimum requirement of Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (B.S.N.) from an accredited school;
    Master’s Degree preferred.
  • School Nurse Certification, School Administration preferred.
  • Must have valid and current Audiometric, Vision, CPR/AED Certifications.
  • Qualified applicants should have five to ten years experience as a school nurse, or equivalent experience in a similar work environment.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of continuous improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of all applicable Federal and State education requirements.
  • Knowledge of School Code requirements.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of individuals, ranging from employees to parents of students; ability to effectively lead/facilitate group processes.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, students and external entities to raise academic performance.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑performing, and at times, unpredictable environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, accept responsibility, and be self‑motivated.
