Job Description
Northwestern Illinois Association (NIA) is a regional governmental agency that provides special education support to 68 school districts across Northwestern Illinois. This position is for the School Year. The School Psychologist works 180 days per year for 7.5 hours daily and earns $63,580.83–$ annually, depending on experience and degree. Grade level, location and academic programting are based on candidate preference and availability.
Responsibilities- Administer and score psychological assessments, including conducting and interpreting cognitive, emotional, and behavioral tests.
- Analyze developmental data to measure and interpret intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development, providing tailored support for student growth.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans in collaboration with school staff.
- Provide direct counseling services to students, including individual and group counseling for emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.
- Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and apply effective interventions and support strategies.
- Monitor student progress and outcomes, regularly evaluating the success of interventions and modifying strategies to ensure educational and personal success.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing expertise on assessments and strategies to ensure appropriate accommodations and support.
- Respond to school crises, offering crisis intervention services to students and staff during critical incidents.
- Engage in professional development, staying current with best practices, legal guidelines, and ethical standards related to school psychology and special education.
- Master’s, Specialist, or Doctorate degree in School Psychology.
- Hold or be eligible for an Illinois professional educator license with a School Psychologist (PK–Age 21) endorsement.
- Proficiency with school‑based technology and office equipment, including computers and specialized software applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. The agency is unable to sponsor work visas (H‑1B, J‑1, etc.) or transfer sponsorship.
