Overview
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years of Special Education teaching experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact supporting elementary students by providing specialized instruction in a collaborative, supportive environment. This contract role is ideal for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to guide a small group of students in a self‑contained 4th and 5th grade classroom. The position is set in a school near Elgin, IL, where elementary self‑contained classrooms are grouped together to foster shared resources and strong professional support.
KeyQualifications
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification (LBSI or equivalent)
- Background working in self‑contained classroom settings
- Experience with elementary‑aged students, particularly 4th and 5th graders
- Familiarity with Unique or STAR curriculum is highly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Commitment to serving diverse learners with varying needs
- Deliver instruction, adapt curriculum, and modify materials for a classroom of 7–8 students with diverse special education needs
- Collaborate with fellow educators and support staff within a building dedicated to self‑contained classrooms
- Maintain an inclusive, nurturing, and organized classroom environment
- Track student progress, develop IEPs, and participate in meetings with families and specialists
- Attend staff contract hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:05 am – 3:35 pm;
Wednesday 8:05 am – 3:50 pm - Engage in professional development, including potential participation in a new teacher orientation before the official start date
Contract period:
August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027. This is a contract opportunity offering experience and the chance to make a lasting difference in students’ lives.
Compensation ranges from $33.05 to $53.05 per hour. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals or incidentals.
