With access to larger nearby suburbs and the greater Chicago metro area, you can take advantage of cultural events, entertainment, and big-city amenities while still coming home to a quieter suburban setting. In this role, you will serve K-12 students in a school-based setting, providing bilingual (English/Spanish) speech and language services. The typical assignment follows a standard school-day schedule with approximately 7.5 hours per day and an expected total of around 37.5 hours per week.

You can expect a consistent weekday schedule that aligns with school operations, providing a predictable routine and evenings and weekends free for personal time. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations, including bilingual assessments, for students across grade levels. You will develop individualized education program goals, deliver direct therapy in both individual and small-group formats, and monitor progress over time.

Collaboration is central to this position: you will work closely with general and special education teachers, school psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, administrators, and families to support student success in the classroom and beyond. Caseloads may include students with articulation and phonological disorders, language impairments, fluency disorders, voice issues, pragmatic language needs, and communication challenges related to other diagnoses. You will also support students who are bilingual or multilingual, ensuring that assessment and intervention are culturally and linguistically appropriate.

Participation in IEP meetings, team consultations, and data-driven decision making is an important part of the role. A typical day may involve traveling between one or more schools in the district area, providing pull-out and push-in services, documenting sessions and progress in the district’s electronic systems, and consulting with teachers and staff on communication strategies within the classroom. You may help design and implement interventions at the classroom or small-group level, and you may be involved in supporting Response to Intervention or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support frameworks where in place.
