Ophthalmic Technician

• Responsible for patient care.
• Room and collect patient assessment data.
• Administer medications and perform other patient care procedures according to established criteria.
• Assist physicians during treatment, testing, refractometry and examinations.
• Perform retinoscopy, refractometry, A/B scans, photography, fluorescein angiography, corneal/disc topography, assist in surgery, low vision evaluations, visual fields and applanations.
• Maintain timely flow of patients.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Document patient care and related information.
• Respond to incoming telephone calls.
• Perform telephone triaging of patients.
• Follow up on patient care as needed.
• Review and maintain charts.
• Participate in QA & I.

• High School diploma preferred.
• Prefer education as a paraprofessional in ophthalmology or optometry.
• Good interpersonal/communicative skills needed.

Demonstrates expertise in patient care procedures, including administering medications and performing various ophthalmic assessments. Strong ability to educate patients and families while maintaining accurate documentation and effective communication.
