Substitute Cook

Hourly Rate: $16.28 / Hour

Perform cook duties on a substitute basis. May be called to work at any building in the District on short notice.

Cook duties include, but are not limited to, preparing and maintaining food service as directed; serving food to students, staff and visiting parents in an efficient and pleasant manner; maintaining cleanliness and functional operation of equipment; performing cooking duties with the cooperation of other kitchen workers; and assisting with cleanup of kitchen equipment, counters, walls, floors, dishes, utensils, and other items as assigned by supervisor.

HS diploma or GED, ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, basic math skills, prior food service experience helpful.

Must have the ability to interact well with students and staff and to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.

Lifting up to 50 pounds and the ability to stand for lengthy periods of time are required. Must be available to work as needed with little or no advance notice of assignment.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
