The Maintenance Technician, Trainee will work alongside experienced maintenance personnel to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install production and support equipment throughout the plant. This position is designed to provide hands-on training and experience in a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance activities.
Under the direction of experienced maintenance personnel, the Maintenance Technician, Trainee will learn to diagnose equipment problems, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and safely complete repairs and installations. Training will include mechanical repairs, basic electrical systems, schematic reading, pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, pipe fitting, basic welding, building repairs, and facility maintenance.
The trainee will also gain experience troubleshooting and repairing punch presses and other production and support equipment, assisting with equipment installations, and responding to equipment failures. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively with experienced maintenance personnel.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of mechanical experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is required, as demonstrated through previous employment, school classes, technical training, and/or hobbies.
- Ability and willingness to learn mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, machining, welding, and facility maintenance skills.
- Ability to learn and apply basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to learn and interpret equipment schematics and technical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technical skills.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and responsible work habits.
- Ability to work effectively with experienced maintenance personnel and other plant employees.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to prioritize work and respond appropriately to equipment problems and maintenance needs.
