Company Introduction

This role is with a growing MEP consulting engineering firm based in Southern California. The organization is known for its collaborative, process-driven culture and technically strong team, delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed‑use projects.

The firm emphasizes smart systems, strong coordination, and client-focused delivery. This position is ideal for an experienced, mechanical‑led MEP engineer who enjoys owning projects, working closely with clients, and contributing to a high‑performing engineering team.

Role Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer & Project Manager is a mechanical‑led, leadership‑oriented role responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. This individual will serve as a technical lead and project manager, guiding multidisciplinary teams while acting as a primary technical and client‑facing resource.

Success in this role requires advanced mechanical engineering expertise, strong judgment in system selection and constructability, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, and quality across multiple concurrent projects. The ideal candidate is process‑driven, technically rigorous, and comfortable operating as Engineer of Record when required.

  • Serve as technical lead and, where applicable, Engineer of Record for mechanical scopes.
  • Manage mechanical‑led project scopes from concept through construction, including budget, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with plumbing, electrical, fire protection, architectural, and structural disciplines.
  • Oversee and mentor engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and quality control.
  • Participate in site surveys, existing conditions assessments, and field investigations.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Provide construction administration support including submittal review, RFI responses, site visits, and punch walks.
  • Support commissioning activities and validate system performance against design intent.
  • Perform or oversee energy analysis, system modeling, and efficiency evaluations as required.
  • Assist with proposal development, fee estimates, and technical input during pursuits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, energy standards, and project requirements.
Required Background
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Strong HVAC system design experience across commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with responsibility for scope, schedule, and coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical system design.
  • Experience producing and reviewing fully coordinated construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • High attention to technical quality, constructability, and long‑term system performance.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Preferred).
  • Competitive base salary up to $150,000, based on experience and licensure.

  • Support for professional development, licensure, and long‑term career growth.
