Digital Communications Systems Technician

Location:

Alhambra, CA 91803

Duration: 12 Months

Schedule:

Monday‑Thursday, 10‑hour shifts (4/40 schedule)

Job Summary

Seeking a Digital Communications Systems Technician with experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications and network communication systems. The role involves supporting PBX systems, VoIP platforms, cloud‑based communication services, telephone infrastructure, and cabling systems. Responsibilities include system installations, moves/adds/changes, repairs, testing, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Required Experience & Skills
  • 3+ years of experience supporting and maintaining digital telephone PBX and key switching systems, including at least 1 year at a journey‑level capacity.
  • 5+ years of experience with NEC PBX systems, Nortel Norstar Key Systems (MICS, Call Pilot, trunk/station modules, RAD), and VoIP technologies such as Cisco and Microsoft Teams Voice.
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of voice and data cabling, including copper and fiber‑optic installations, patch panels, and structured cabling standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot telecommunications circuits, VoIP systems, cloud communication platforms, and network connectivity issues.
  • Experience supporting cloud communication tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Web Ex.
  • Strong customer service, communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Education & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel extensively within Los Angeles County.
  • Ability to lift equipment, work on ladders, and perform physical installation activities.
Additional Information
  • California residents only.
  • Travel required throughout Los Angeles County.
  • Occasional after‑hours and overtime work may be required.
  • Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
